In the initial stage of a project, we conduct a detailed sorting and modeling of various business systems in user scenarios, including wired office, WLAN, video surveillance, video conferencing, IP voice, access control and public address systems, and calculate the bandwidth based on their typical requirements. For example, a wired office usually requires a guaranteed bandwidth of 2M to 10M, while a high-performance dual-band wireless AP may have a peak bandwidth demand of 500M to 800M. Through in-depth analysis of the business volume and concurrency model, we can accurately calculate the total concurrent bandwidth demand for network upstream and downstream, thus providing a scientific basis for subsequent network device selection and link configuration.

From Bandwidth Calculation to Optical Network Design: Full-Link Technical Matching

Taking the actual calculation of a smart general education scenario as an example, after summing up the bandwidth of all terminal services such as video surveillance, recording and broadcasting systems, electronic class cards and teaching tablets, we conclude that its total upstream concurrent bandwidth is about 105M and the total downstream concurrent bandwidth is about 215M. This key data directly determines the selection of the splitting ratio in the Passive Optical Network (PON).

Based on the universal GPON standard (2.5Gbps downstream, 1.25Gbps upstream), we conduct a scientific accounting: in the downstream direction, the ratio of 2.5G bandwidth to the 215M demand is about 11.6; in the upstream direction, the ratio of 1.25G bandwidth to the 105M demand is about 11.9. Both figures are rounded up to 12. Therefore, AINOPOL recommends and adopts an N:8 optical splitter structure for this scenario. This design not only perfectly meets the concurrent bandwidth requirements of all services, but also ensures that the optical path attenuation value is within the standard range, achieving the optimal balance between performance and reliability.
