Linfen No.1 High School is one of the first key high schools in Shanxi Province with a history of over a hundred years, directly under the leadership of Linfen Education Bureau. It was founded in 1896 and its predecessor was Jinshan Academy. Later renamed as "Pingyang Middle School", "Provincial Sixth Middle School", "Linfen Middle School", etc. In 1950, it was named Linfen No.1 High School.

Since its establishment, the school has received more than 50 national and provincial commendations. It was once rated as "Shanxi Provincial Characteristic School, Shanxi Provincial Moral Education Demonstration School, exemplary organization for Comprehensive Management, and Shanxi Provincial School Meeting the Standard for Campus Health", and was recognized as "Advanced School for New Curriculum Reform Experiment" by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

As a traditional school that has gone through a hundred years, it ranks first in the city and among the top in the province with its high enrollment rate in the college entrance examination, the number of people entering key universities, and the number of winners in national mathematics, physics, and chemistry competitions, and is widely trusted by society and parents.

Traditional universities face challenges

In recent years, the number of students applying to the school has been increasing year by year, and the traditional campus can no longer meet the current student carrying needs in terms of network capacity and area.

With the strong support of the Municipal Party Committee and Government, as well as the direct leadership of the Municipal Education Commission, the school is determined to build a brand new campus, covering an area of 49788 square meters and a total construction area of 45133 square meters. This new campus plan includes seven main buildings, including a comprehensive building, teaching building, dormitory building, and restaurant, as well as supporting facilities such as a standard 400 meter runway and modern playground.
