Sairimu Lake PON all-optical monitoring project: Using light as a pen, painting a new picture of intelligent protection
2025-08-12 11:49:18 11

The Sailimu Lake scenic area has a vast area, with scattered areas such as the lake surface, boardwalks, parking lots, and tourist gathering areas. Traditional monitoring equipment is difficult to achieve full coverage; And the environment of the scenic area is harsh, with extreme temperature differences (the lowest in winter is -30 ℃, and the highest in summer is over 30 ℃), strong winds, dust, strong ultraviolet rays, etc., which require extremely high equipment stability. At the same time, massive monitoring data needs to be transmitted and analyzed in real time, which traditional network bandwidth and transmission efficiency cannot meet. The scenic area urgently needs a stable, efficient, and intelligent monitoring system.

Project requirements

Application plan

Using PON technology to build a point to multipoint network topology, with OLT as the core, the signal is distributed to various ONUs in the scenic area through ODN optical splitters, forming an all-optical transmission link. Deploy industrial grade 4K high-definition intelligent cameras in the front-end, equipped with WDR, low light imaging, and intelligent analysis functions, with a protection level of IP68. By utilizing wavelength division multiplexing and time-division multiplexing technologies, bidirectional multi service concurrent transmission can be achieved on a single optical fiber, supporting bandwidths of over gigabit. POE ONU is equipped with an intelligent temperature control module, combined with a wide temperature industrial grade design, which can operate stably in an environment of -40 ℃ to 85 ℃, achieving efficient transmission and precise processing of monitoring data in scenic spots.

Traditional cabling vs. all-optical network

1. The pain points of traditional networks

Limited transmission distance: Traditional monitoring networks often use copper cable wiring, with wired transmission distances. In the vast area of Lake Selim, a large number of relay devices are required, which is costly and prone to signal attenuation;

Weak anti-interference ability: The complex electromagnetic environment in scenic spots can easily cause blurry monitoring images and data transmission interruptions;

Low bandwidth of transceiver: The use of optoelectronic transceiver networking solutions results in low bandwidth, making it difficult to meet large data demands such as high-definition video and real-time analysis;

There are many network nodes, and the equipment is susceptible to environmental corrosion: in the harsh climate of Lake Selim, the equipment failure rate is high and the maintenance cost is huge.

2. Advantages of all-optical networks

Long transmission distance: The all-optical network uses optical fibers to transmit optical signals, with a long transmission distance. One optical fiber can cover the entire area of Lake Selim, reducing equipment deployment;

Strong anti-interference ability: Fearless of electromagnetic interference, the monitoring screen is always clear and smooth;

Large bandwidth and high capacity: easily cope with real-time feedback of massive monitoring data;

Fiber optic cable is corrosion-resistant and resistant to harsh environments: Combined with specially designed protective equipment, it ensures stable operation and significantly reduces maintenance costs through intelligent temperature control and efficient heat dissipation under extreme temperature differences in Lake Selim.

Product recommendation

The core equipment selected for this project is a high-performance OLT device that can be accessed multiple times, with a large capacity backplane bandwidth and rich optical interfaces to ensure high-speed data exchange; Industrial grade POE ONU, made of cold and high temperature resistant materials, with a protection level of IP67, works normally in dusty, rainy and snowy environments. Equipped with efficient heat dissipation modules, the equipment can operate stably in environments ranging from -30 ℃ to 60 ℃. These products together provide solid support for the reliable operation of PON all-optical monitoring systems.

Project Summary

The PON all-optical monitoring project at Sairimu Lake has successfully overcome environmental and management challenges in the scenic area, achieving stable operation for 18 months with zero data transmission interruptions and zero loss of monitoring images. The combination of all-optical networks and intelligent monitoring not only improves the efficiency of scenic area safety management, but also provides strong data support for ecological protection. In the future, we will continue to deepen the application of technology, combined with big data and artificial intelligence, to inject more momentum into the intelligent development of scenic spots.
